Due to Basant Panchami/Saraswati Puja, banks in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, and Kolkata will be closed on February 14, 2024. It isn’t, however, formally observed as a gazetted holiday.
The specified holiday dates should be noted by those who have immediate financial demands. Customers of banks should be aware that while physical branches will be closed on these next holidays, online, mobile, and UPI banking services will remain open and operational.

It is noteworthy that different parts of the country observe different holidays, with certain days designated as national public holidays and others as regional ones.

When determining bank holidays, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) takes into account a number of variables, including state and national holidays, cultural or religious celebrations, operational requirements, governmental orders, and cooperation with other banks. The RBI notifies banks and other financial institutions of its holiday calendar via official means, including its website.

Holidays Still Occurring in February 2024

On February 19, Belapur, Mumbai, and Nagpur will have bank holidays in honor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. Due to statehood day, the capital cities of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar, and Mizoram, Aizawl, will enjoy bank holidays on February 20. Because of Nyokum, February 26 will also be a bank holiday in Itanagar.

In addition, all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays are honored as bank holidays.

2024’s Basant Panchami

Vasant Panchami draws attention to the arrival of spring. Sarasvati, the Hindu deity, is the focal point of the celebration. People wear yellow clothing to celebrate the occasion, and they eat “kesar halwa,” a dish comprised of flour, sugar, almonds, and cardamom powder. Pupils approach the goddess’s feet with books, pens, and pencils in hand, asking for her blessings.

2024’s Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is on February 14, but the week leading up to the holiday marks the start of the month-long celebration of love. Before Valentine’s Day, there are seven days set aside to celebrate love. It begins on February 7.
